Multiple VoIP Providers with SP2

Has anyone noticed that you can configure two VoIP Providers under SP2?


(Example: Dial a “9″ + number for the configured #1 NGT Service and dial a “8″ + number for the configured #2 Packet8 Service)?

    Has anyone tried connecting two different accounts from the same VoIP provider? I have a customer that has 2 offices connected with a VPN. We will be installing Cbeyond’s SIPConnect product at both locations. I thought it would be a good idea to just setup each locations SIP account inside RP and then route the calls to the appropriate office. This would give me twice the capacity of phone lines versus just having one acccount.

    Has anyone tried this configuration before?

    Depending on the size of the offices, this might not be a good idea as you could have a large number of calls going across the VPN tunnel. If you do proceed, ensure that you switch QoS on for the tunnel.

    In theory it could work, but take care to ensure that resilience and quality are maintained.

    Jim, do you have 1 or 2 RP systems? Do you plan on having only one auto-attendant? I have a company that sounds like they have a similar setup to yours and RP cannot handle this. However, NGT Hosted Digital Voice does this just fine.

    They will only have 1 RP system. The offices are fairly small. The entire system will only be 18 phones, but 8 of those are strictly for exam rooms (internal calling only). The main office will have approximately 6 users with 3 of them actively using the phone. The remote office will have about 4 people with only 2 actively using the phone.

    We have 1 RP system that serves both an office and a remote office without any problems. The automated attendent directs outside calls to the appropriate office and internal calls act just as if everyone were in the same office; no difference.

    We do use QoS to make sure calls are not interrupted by other traffic on the VPN; we have not found bandwidth to be a significant issue. Don’t use cheap VPN routers.

    Does any know how to pad the area code when useing SIP lines. Right now to dial out I have to dial all 11 digits. For local call I want to only dial 7.
